Dr. Dulek's Curated Instructional Design Portfolio
IDT 5000: Task Analysis IDT 5010: Training Activity IDT 5020: Flipped Classroom Website
This assignment highlighted for me the similarities between occupational therapy and instructional design. Detailed directions and step-by-step processes are important when building skills for daily living and for learning.
This video allowed me to explore how to justify and explain the benefits of training to an intended audience. This skill may be useful when designing training in the future, so this was an excellent exercise in the ability to provide sound rationale.
I created this website using Weebly, which I also used for my portfolio. I enjoyed using this tool in a different way and for a different purpose as I created an informative and educational website that could be used in training.

IDT 5100: Instructional Tweets IDT 5110: Using Agile in SOTA IDT 5120: Learning Design Proposal
This was my first introduction to Twitter, which has now become a source of my own professional development. In this assignment, I explored how to use tweets to educate and engage students, which I believe is an important means of reaching today's learners.
Learning about the Agile methodology changed how I thought about planning and flexibility in a dynamic work environment, and I was excited to get to share this new knowledge with the student organization within my program.
I wrote this proposal about the original focus of my capstone project, so it held important practical meaning for me as I completed it. It allowed me to apply learning theory in a very concrete and strategic way to solve a real-world problem.

IDT 5130: Gamification Plan IDT 5130: Versal Course IDT 5200: Introduction on Animoto
Of all the instructional methods this program presented, I found gamification to be the most appealing. Although not a "gamer" myself, I have seen how engrossing and educational games can be for those who play, and I want my learners to be just as engrossed! Designing games takes creativity that I would like to develop further.
I find Versal to be a very clean, user-friendly interface for learning, and this assignment allowed me to be creative while working within the bounds of the tool itself. Its menus of activities offer choice, but I had to be purposeful about which I selected in order to meet the learning needs of my participants.
Animoto was fun because it gave me a new way to present information visually without spending time recording, editing, etc. Introducing myself using this tool allowed me to show my personality and interests while presenting myself in a professional manner. I have used this tool since then to create fun course introductions for my students.

IDT 5200: Infographic IDT 5200: Learning Theory Podcast IDT 5200: Program Assessment Plan
As someone who responds well to information presented in visual formats, I really enjoyed the challenge of creating an infographic such as this one, created using Canva. The site offers many templates which I was able to adapt for my own needs, and used again to create the graphic on the landing page of my portfolio. I appreciate that infographics can represent anything from simple to complex ideas or information.
I have recently started listening to podcasts for entertainment and professional development, and found that there is a story-telling element that can be very engaging. I tried to reflect that in my podcast, while also considering specific learning outcomes. I would like to do more of these for my students because of their accessibility during exercise, commutes, meal preparation, etc.
As an educator, I had a basic working knowledge of formative and summative assessments prior to entering the program. This assignment in particular, though, allowed me to dive deeply into how to develop and plan assessments that offer benefits to educators, designers, and learners. This particular plan focuses on a real-world need, and utilizes Sway as a presentation tool.

IDT 5210: Risk Analysis & Plan IDT 5210: Capstone Project Outline IDT 5210: Capstone Presentation
Although my capstone project was carefully selected and designed to minimize potential risks, the timing of the capstone posed some challenges that are likely common in everyday instructional design. These include the busy schedules of involved faculty and a change in access to the involved technology as I transitioned from one institution to another. The risk analysis and plan allowed me to explore these typical challenges just as I would need to do in other circumstances.
The outline details all aspects of the capstone project, and helped to clarify my thinking on the purpose and process of the project. Completing the outline also helped me to realize that I had approached the project using an Agile methodology without explicitly approaching it in this manner, demonstrating that I had adopted this approach into my daily work practices. The outline also highlights how a complex project can be simplified for those who are involved to minimize related stress and anxiety.
This video summarizes the process of my capstone project, detailing its purpose, process, and products, as well as my learning. Although it includes information previously presented in other formats within the capstone course, it was a powerful experience to bring it all together here and to narrate it in my own voice. It helped me appreciate the usefulness of the skills and knowledge I gained in this program, especially those having to do with communication and collaboration, as my capstone project relied heavily on these.
