IDT 5110: Project Management in Instructional Design and Technology Integration
Course Description:
This 6-week online course examines the project management phase on integrating technology with content to sync with the instructional design process. You will develop a plan and work in teams to complete a “real world” project that includes a template for design of a specific environment.
Instructor:
Dr. Ty Tabernik
Course Reflection:
This course stands out as the one whose concepts and focus I had the least professional experience with when it began. It was my first course addressing project management, and I expected it to include information about how to create very linear plans for large design projects. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that we were instead being introduced to the Agile method, exploring practices such as Scrum and Kanban. The Agile methodology highlights leadership and flexibility, two practices I have found critical in my own professional life, and I really enjoyed--and benefited from--developing relevant knowledge and skills. I now how have a much more vivid and dynamic understanding of how an Instructional Designer may function as a leader and facilitator of design projects requiring collaborative efforts and iterative processes.
